Our Story

The TIKARI Flutes ensemble was founded in September 2013. Its members are students from the Marie Podvalová Elementary Art School in Prague 9 – Čakovice. Currently, the ensemble has 20 members, aged between 12 and 21 years. The artistic directors were Andrea Rosíková and Jana Kasanová. Since the 2023-24 school year, the ensemble has been led by Andrea Rosíková.

The ensemble performs compositions by both contemporary and classical composers, arranged for 1st to 5th flute, alto flute, bass flute, and contrabass flute.

TIKARI Flutes has performed not only at numerous concerts at ZUŠ Marie Podvalová, but also in competitions and international tours.

From its early days, the ensemble dominated concert halls and competitions in the Czech Republic. In 2017 and 2019, the ensemble became the Laureate of the National Radio Competition for Young Musicians Concerto Bohemia in the category of ensembles and orchestras up to 16 years old.

Thanks to persistent and demanding work, TIKARI Flutes gradually began to excel with its distinctive sound abroad, where it won the 1st prize Cum Laude at the international competition festival in Neerpelt, Belgium, in 2015, 2019, and 2023. In 2018, the ensemble received the GOLD AWARD at the World Orchestra Festival in Vienna.

TIKARI Flutes has also presented itself at significant festivals in Asia. In 2016, it completed a concert tour in Japan in collaboration with the Musica Yokohama agency.

Based on its victory at the World Orchestra Festival in Vienna, the ensemble was invited to tour China, where it performed at festivals in Harbin, Bailu, and Beijing.

In the 2023/2024 school year, the ensemble was awarded a prestigious scholarship from the MenART academy, where it collaborates on its development with horn player and conductor Radek Baborák.

In August 2024 and 2026, the ensemble represented the Czech Republic at the prestigious international festival in Loutraki, Greece.
